The Senior Associate will serve as a key member of Olsen Thielen Business Valuation & Transaction Advisory Services team taking substantial responsibility in performing multiple business valuation and financial advisory engagements simultaneously.

Our business valuation staff performs valuations of business entities, intellectual property, intangible assets, debt instruments, and complex capital structures with embedded options, warrants, and other derivative features. Additional engagements related to financial due diligence in support of mergers and acquisition (M&A) transactions should also be expected. These services are provided to assist clients with M&As, divestitures, tax planning and compliance, financial reporting, reorganization, litigation and dispute resolution, strategic planning, and general decision support activities.

Essential Functions:

• Acts as the lead advisor on business valuation and transaction advisory engagements.
• Prepares and reviews valuation models and completes other complex projects including financial due diligence, conducts research as required, and forms conclusions to be reviewed by appropriate team members (e.g., Principal, Director, or Manager).
• Prepares formal valuation reports.
• Manages engagement to meet deliverable deadlines; identifies roadblocks and understands critical milestones to meet client service expectations.
• Possesses an understanding of the client's business and industry (e.g., competitors, trends and key customers); recognizes, anticipates and resolves client issues and makes recommendations
• Markets Olsen Thielen's services to existing and potential clients; meets business development goals
• Actively participates in client meetings and business valuation and transaction advisory services planning efforts.
• Meets productivity and efficiency standards (billable hours).

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related area of study or experience
• Three years of business valuation and/or transaction advisory services experience
• ASA, CFA, ABV, or CPA credential, or substantial progress toward achieving certification, preferred not required
• Excellent financial modeling and technical writing skills
• Ability to travel as needed or requested
• Well-rounded knowledge of accounting standards
• High level knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
• Excellent communication (oral and written) skills
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical abilities to identify exceptions
• Demonstrated marketing, business development skills
• Proven ability to manage staff on projects of varying sizes
• Demonstrated ability to work independently to interface with client management, gather facts, organize data, analyze financial statements and other financial data, and identify relevant issues
• Cultivate and maintain positive, productive, and professional relationships with colleagues and clients
• Team player
• Strong project management skills
• Demonstrated industry knowledge and business acumen
